§7.4 Separable differential equations

什么是可分离变量微分方程?

1. Introduction

Introduction

2. Spotting the nonseparable equation

Among the differential equations dydt=−3y\frac{dy}{dt} = -3y, dydt=y2−t\frac{dy}{dt} = \frac{y}{2-t}, and dydt=t2−y2\frac{dy}{dt} = t^2-y^2, the one that is not separable is

3. Separating a pure exponential equation

To separate dydt=−3y\frac{dy}{dt} = -3y, we divide both sides by yy and obtain

4. Separating a product equation

For dydt=t y\frac{dy}{dt} = t\,y, proper separation followed by integration gives

5. Separating the mixed linear factor

The equation dydt=ty−y\frac{dy}{dt} = ty-y separates as

6. An initial value for exponential decay

The equation dydt=−3y\frac{dy}{dt} = -3y has solutions y=Ce−3ty = Ce^{-3t}. For the solution with y(0)=6y(0) = 6, find the constant CC.

7. An initial value for a pure $t$ equation

The equation dydt=t+1\frac{dy}{dt} = t+1 has solutions y=t22+t+Cy = \frac{t^2}{2}+t+C. For the solution with y(0)=4y(0) = 4, find the constant CC.

8. A right side of $t$ alone still separates

An equation of the form dydt=g(t)\frac{dy}{dt} = g(t), such as dydt=t+1\frac{dy}{dt} = t+1, counts as separable since the right side is already a pure function of tt.
